Note: These two announcement lists function like newsletters, distributing only information which the editors deem appropriate for inclusion. Postings of announcements are welcome, as long as they meet the format and content guidelines.
Central-Eurasia-L is our most popular listserver. With 3,000 subscribers worldwide, there are few similar lists in any field of Eurasian studies which have such a broad reach. It carries announcements only -- matters of interest to the scholarly community, such as conferences, grants, jobs, and publications -- 2-3 per day on average. There is no better way to keep up-to-date on what is happening in the field.
The Central-Asia-Harvard-List serves a function similar to that of Central-Eurasia-L, but carries announcements only relating to Central Eurasian studies in and around Harvard University (including the Boston area generally). This list is useful if you want to keep abreast of events and resources in this field at Harvard/in Boston.
Note: These discussion lists are automated with listserver program which
handle subscription, unsubscription and posting (though there are restrictions
-- e.g., in no case can non-members post information with specific approval).

The Central Eurasian Scholars Network (CESN) is a forum for addressing queries and seeking cooperation among scholars in Central Eurasian studies. Membership in the Central Eurasian Studies Society is required to join CESN.
The AnthEurasia discussion list provides a forum for discussion and exchange of information concerning Anthropology and Cultural Studies of the post-Communist domain of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Northeast Eurasia.
Note: These mailing lists are not automatic -- to be included or excluded, we need you to contact us (or submit the data forms linked below).
The Harvard Program on Central Asia and the Caucasus, which hosts the «Central Eurasian Studies World Wide» project, maintains the most extensive database anywhere on Central Eurasian studies-related people and institutions. With this address database, we occasionally (ca. 3-5 times per year) contact people regarding key resources for this field. (This database, as all the personal information we keep, is not made available to any other organization in any form; See Policy on Privacy).
The Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS), which has its institutional home at the Harvard Program on Central Asia and the Caucasus, provides a comprehensive and well-indexed on-line Directory of its members -- Membership Registration leads to inclusion in this database, but for those who don't wish to become members, CESS provides a Mailing List, by which occasional notices are distributed which concern CESS activities (such as the annual conference, publications and elections).
Over the past several years, literally hundreds of e-mail lists have appeared which focus on Central Eurasia and overlapping regions or sub-regions. The quality of these lists varies greatly. Most are used for exchange of opinion and news articles on the region. «CESWW» provides a fairly comprehensive List of E-mail Lists.
Note that the personal information associated with all of the listservers, databases and mailing lists which we maintain is treated as confidential, unless it is indicated otherwise. It is too easy for purveyors of commercial and other unsolicited information to abuse our private information. We therefore exchange the information you provide to us with no one. We do provide several public data sources (e.g., Dissertations in Central Eurasian Studies, Central Eurasia Experts Directory and Guide to Scholars of Central Asia), but in these, we make public only information which individuals provide for this purpose.
